Automated RSSI Test Station for Laptop Production
Conveyor-fed shielded cell for repeatable laptop RSSI measurement
Overview
RS-2607-001 combines a sheet-metal shielded enclosure with a built-in conveyor loading mechanism. The cell accepts the unit, closes, runs the RSSI measurement inside the cavity, and discharges automatically, so operators no longer handle the device between steps. That single change removes most of the operator-to-operator variation that shows up in weak-signal RSSI data.
Shielding is rated above 80 dB across 900 MHz–6 GHz, and isolation is held at 80 dB or better at both 2.4 GHz and 6 GHz. For RSSI work this matters more than raw attenuation figures: the ambient noise floor inside the cavity has to stay stable while you measure a signal that is deliberately small.
The interface panel provides six SMA(F)–SMA(F) RF paths, two USB ports, one DB9, one RJ45, and a DC input. Control runs over TCP, RS-232, or USB. Commands are wrapped in a second layer, so the line PC does not need a generic serial terminal installed and the raw device command set is never exposed to operators.

Specifications
Features
- Conveyor infeed and outfeed run automatically, so the cell tests at line rate without manual loading
- Isolation held at 80 dB or better at both 2.4 GHz and 6 GHz for low-level RSSI work
- Mixed-model capable: one station can accept different laptop sizes without a mechanical rebuild
- Tests units with or without a protective sleeve fitted
- Automatic retest on FAIL, which keeps false rejects out of the rework queue
- Command wrapping keeps the raw device protocol off the line PC
Typical applications
- Laptop and notebook final assembly
- Wireless module validation
- RSSI calibration and screening
